Beloit, WI -- This wasn't how the Beloit College Women's Basketball team wanted to make their return to Flood Arena after over a month away.
The Bucs fell to Midwest Conference-leader St. Norbert College 73-48 in a game that got away from them early.
Despite turnovers by Beloit on their first four possessions they were still within 14-8 nine minutes into the contest. But the Green Knights started taking advantage at that point and never looked back, outscoring the Bucs 22-6 over the next eight minutes to take a 36-14 lead. SNC led 40-20 at the break.
Lana Wieseman's layin 20 seconds into the second half cut the deficit to 18 points but that was as close as they'd get the remainder of the game. A 25-8 run made it a 65-30 game midway through the half and St. Norbert coasted in for the win.
Beloit committed 27 turnovers for the game, 15 in the opening half, while shooting just 40.5%. Wieseman led the way with 15 points while Laura Panicali had nine with a game-high seven rebounds. Lauren McNanna added eight points with six rebounds.
The Buccaneers look to turn things around on Saturday when they host Monmouth College. Tipoff is at 5:00 p.m.
