Indoor Track & Field Opens Season at Chicago Invite

Indoor Track & FieldChicago, IL -- The Beloit College Indoor Track & Field team got their 2014 season underway Saturday at the University of Chicago Phoenix Invitational, with the Women's team finishing fourth and the Men's squad fifth.

Felicia Carlson won both the 55m and 200m to pace the Women's team while George Gray took the 800m to lead the Men.

Also earning top-eight finishes were Peter Siess, third in the 400m; Mateo Lauersdorf, third in the Weight Throw and fifth in the Shot; Emma Koenig, fourth in the Mile; Emily Sneed, fifth in the Mile; Ellie Waddle, seventh in the 800m; and Matt Kreiser, eighth in the 200m.

The Women's 4x400m Relay of Waddle, Carlson, Camilla Jackson and Alex Kurpiel was fifth and the Men's 4x400m quartet of Siess, Kreiser, George and Jacob Gray was sixth.

The Buccaneers continue the early season next Saturday at the UW-Whitewater Karl Schlender Invite.  Action begins at 11:00 a.m.
