Bucs on Wrong End of Half-Ending Runs in Loss

Buccaneer Women's BasketballDubuque, IA -- The Beloit College Women's Basketball team fell victim to runs by Loras College at the end of both the first and second halves on the way to an 81-63 non-conference loss on Wednesday night.

In the opening half the DuHawks gradually built their lead up before Beloit pulled to within five points at 23-18 with 4:24 left.  But LC closed the half on a 15-4 run to take a 38-22 advantage into the lockerroom.

Loras came out strong in the second half and built their lead as high as 21 at 67-46 with 7:38 remaining.  The Buccaneers then put together an 11-2 run to pull back within 69-57 at the 4:11 mark.  But the DuHawks came out of a timeout and held off the Bucs with a 12-6 spurt to close out the game for the win.

Lauren McNanna paced Beloit with 20 points, six rebounds and six assists.  Lana Wieseman and Nora Polaski both scored 15, Polaski's being a career-high, and Laura Panicali added 10.

The Bucs get back into Midwest Conference play on Saturday when they play at Monmouth College.  Tipoff is at 3:00 p.m.
