Rock Island, IL -- The Beloit College Cross Country team closed out their 2013 season at the always ultru-competitive NCAA Division III Midwest Regional on Saturday, with the Women finishing 25th and the Men 31st.
The Men's side of the meet featured ten of the top 37 teams in the nation, including three of the top four and five of the top 11. Top-ranked North Central won the meet followed by second-ranked Washington Mo. and 11th-ranked UW-Oshkosh. Ninth-ranked UW-Eau Claire finished fourth and fourth-ranked UW-La Crosse was fifth.
For the Women, six of the top 38 teams in the nation were running, including three in the top 20. Seventh-ranked University of Chicago won the meet followed by 19th-ranked UW-La Crosse and 17th-ranked Washington Mo.
Karen Jones led the Women with a 96th-place finish followed by Ellie Waddle in 130th, Maggie Cress in 135th, Sara DeLong in 184th and Jessica Vogel in 193rd. Laurel Marshall crossed in 206th while Emily Sneed was 219th.
For the Men, Joseph Skurski was 104th followed by Matej Jungwirth in 172nd, Alberto Torres in 186th, George Gray in 196th and Jacob Gray in 200th. Khusrav Mahkomov was 233rd.
