Beloit, WI -- The Beloit College Men's Soccer team played a pair of back-to-back nail-biters at the Strong Complex Soccer Field over the weekend, resulting in a scoreless overtime tie with Illinois College on Saturday and a close 1-0 loss to Midwest Conference contender Knox College on Sunday.
On Sunday the Prairie Fire scored the lone goal of the game at the 35:27 mark of the opening half and made it stand up, the only blemish on the Bucs' effort. KC won the shots battle 17-4, with BJ Kiser making six saves in net.
Back on Saturday the Buccaneers and IC battled through 110 minutes before settling for the tie. Both teams had chances throughout, with Beloit putting eight shots on goal and Illinois College 12. The Blueboys won the shots 33-18. Kiser had 12 saves, including two in the second overtime that featured a point-blank attempt with eight seconds left.
The 18 saves on the weekend put Kiser over the 100 mark for the season.
Beloit hosts Carroll University on Thursday at 4:00 p.m. at the Strong Complex.
