Beaverton, OR -- James Lazarcik, a senior forward for the Beloit College Men's Basketball team from LaCrescent, Minnesota, has earned Honorable Mention Preseason All-American honors from DIII News, a monthly publication that covers NCAA Division III Basketball.
Lazarcik was also projected as the Midwest Conference Player of the Year in the publication's annual preseason preview.
Lazarcik had a memorable junior season for the Bucs in 2012-13. He was named First Team All-MWC and Third-Team All-Midwest Region as well as earning Second Team Academic All-American laurels.
He led the team in 13 different categories, including scoring (17.5), rebounding (11.3), field goal percentage (67.7%), free throw percentage (78.5%) and blocked shots (1.3). He leads the conference in rebounding, field goal percentage and double-doubles and ranks fourth in scoring. Nationally he topped NCAA Division III in field goal percentage, was eighth in rebounding and 11th in double-doubles.
The Bucs finished the 2012-13 season with a 12-11 overall record, including 10-8 in Midwest Conference play. Their 12 wins were the most since the 2001-02 season while their ten Conference victories were the most since the 1992-93 season.
Beloit opens the 2013-14 season on Tuesday, November 19, at Dominican University. The home and MWC opener is set for Tuesday, November 26, when they host Ripon College.
