Bucs Get Much-Needed, and Hard-Fought, Win at Rockford

Rockford, IL -- The Beloit College Volleyball team needed a win on Friday night at Rockford University in their final match before opening Midwest Conference play.  They had to go a little extra but got the 3-2 victory to snap a tough stretch.

The Bucs took the match 25-15, 25-19, 20-25, 20-25, 15-9.

Taylor Lewis led the attack with 15 kills while Molly Schulting had 12 and Bethany Stavrakas 11.  Carolyn Stransky had 45 set assists, tied for the fourth-most in a match in the last five seasons.  Julianne Gruenhagen recorded six service aces, tied for the second-most in a match since 2008, and Cheyenne Moffatt three.

Gruenhagen also had 28 digs in the match.  Leah Kruckman had six blocks, two solo, and Schulting four, one solo.

The Buccaneers are off until October 4 when they host Monmouth College in their MWC opener in Flood Arena.  First serve is set for 7:00 p.m.
