Monmouth, IL -- Nothing much went right right for the Beloit College Football team in the first half of their Midwest Conference opener at Monmouth College on Saturday.  But the second half showed plenty of promise in the 59-14 loss.

The Fighting Scots scored three TDs in the opening quarter and added four scores in the second to lead 49-0 at the half.  MC added a touchdown in the third quarter to lead 56-0 heading into the fourth.

Beloit found its footing in the fourth stanza, finally denting the scoreboard at the 8:12 mark on Mason Dixon's 14-yard run to complete a nine-play, 73-yard drive.  After Monmouth tacked on a field goal to finish their scoring with five minutes left, the Bucs closed out the scoring at 1:18 when Kameron Sallee hit Michael Nolden with a 26-yard scoring pass for the final score.

Dixon finished with 114 yards on the ground, the first 100-yard game by a Buccaneer running back since Zach Draus had 139 yards at Lawrence on September 15, 2012.  Sallee had 105 yards passing, most of it to Nolden, who had four catches for 91 yards.

On defense Patrick Donovan led the team with ten tackles while Ian Dunning added seven.

The Buccaneers return to Strong Stadium next weekend for the annual Homecoming Game, hosting Lawrence University in a 1:00 p.m. kickoff.
