Felicia Carlson, a junior from Beloit, Wisconsin (Memorial) who consistently broke her own record in both the 100m and 200m during the 2013 season, has qualified for the NCAA Division III Outdoor Track & Field Championships, which will be held at UW-La Crosse from Thursday thru Saturday.
Her spot in the 22-athlete field for the 100m was secured on Sunday. She qualified 11th in the event with a Midwest Conference Championship-winning :12.05 on May 11 at her home track.
Carlson missed qualifying in a second event, the 200m, by 6/100th of a second.
Carlson is the first Beloit student-athlete to earn a spot at the Championships since Megan Maure qualified in the Javelin in 2007.
The 100m prelims are set to begin at 6:30 p.m. on Friday at Roger Harring Stadium at Veterans Memorial Sports Complex in La Crosse. The finals are scheduled for 4:00 p.m. on Saturday.
