Ripon, WI – Emily Dorjath, a sophomore catcher from Batavia, Illinois, and Jen Zucker, a freshman pitcher from Glenview, Illinois (Glenbrook South), were named to the 2013 All-Midwest Conference Softball team in a vote of league coaches. The team was released today by the Conference Office.
Dorjath finished second on the team in hitting with a .264 average, home runs with four and RBIs with 18. She led the team in doubles, and tied for second in the MWC, with 11, which tied for the third-highest total in a season in Beloit history. She also paced the team in slugging percentage at .516. In Conference games she led the team with a .333 average, two home runs and 11 RBIs.
Zucker set a new standard for Buccaneer pitchers with her 167 strikeouts on the season, which led the Conference and, as of this writing, ranked 22nd in NCAA Division III. Zucker also led the MWC in innings pitched and was second in appearances. She pitched just the fourth no-hitter in Beloit Softball history on April 14 against Grinnell College at the MWC Classic, an 8-0 victory. She ranks, again as of this writing, 12th in the nation in walks per seven innings, having given up just 17 free passes in 153 innings, and is 34th in strikeouts per seven innings.
