De Pere, WI -- The Beloit College Baseball team fell at St. Norbert College 6-3 on Thursday in the opening game of a four-game Midwest Conference series.  Game two of the doubleheader was then washed out by rain.

The loss eliminated the Buccaneers from postseason play.  Beloit entered the series needing to sweep the four-game set.

SNC broke up a scoreless tie in the fourth with a pair of runs but the Bucs matched it in the top of the fifth Grant Henricksen reached on a fielder's choice, driving in Matt Meade and Alex Lawrence singled to score Jerrick Habecker with the tying run.  But the Green Knights took the lead for good in the bottom of the inning with two runs, the second unearned, to re-establish their two-run lead.

St. Norbert scored single runs in the seventh and eighth innings to increase their lead to 6-2.  Beloit closed out the scoring in the top of the ninth when Henricksen singled in Habecker with an unearned run.

Lawrence finished with three hits in the game while Habecker and Meade both had two.

The teams are scheduled to meet on Sunday at The Ballpark at Strong Stadium for a doubleheader to finish up the series but it's unsure at this point regarding the make-up of Thursday's second game.  Sunday's doubleheader, which is Senior Day for the Buccaneers, begins at 1:00 p.m.
