2013 Season Comes to an End for Buccaneer Softball

Chicago, IL -- The Beloit College Softball team saw heir 2013 season come to a close on Monday at the University of Chicago with a pair of losses, falling 10-0 and 12-1.

The Maroon pitcher twirled a no-hitter in the game one win, shutting down the Buccaneer bats while UC scored once in the first, four times in both the second and third, and once in the fourth.

Tala Cornell made sure that wouldn't happen in game two, leading off with her sixth home run, the second-most hit in a season in Beloit Softball history.  But that was the extent of the scoring for the Bucs as Chicago tied the game in the second and then took the lead for good with a run in the fourth.  Two unearned runs crossed the plate in the fifth before UC erupted for eight runs in the sixth to end the contest.

Cornell singled in the top of the sixth for the only other hit fror Beloit on the day.

Kandace Fox, the lone senior on the squad, played her final game for the Buccaneers.  She finished her career with 102 hits, the sixth-most in a career in program history.  

Jennifer Zucker finished her first collegiate season with 167 strikeouts to establish a new single-season mark.  The 14 home runs the squad hit were the most since the 1994 team hit a record 15.
