Naperville, IL -- The Beloit College Softball team ran into a very hot team on Thursday at North Central College, falling to the undefeated Cardinals 6-0 and 12-1.  The games were originally scheduled to be played in Beloit but were moved to Naperville due to unplayable field conditions.

In game one NCC jumped on top for good in the first inning with a run on three hits.  They added two runs in the fourth, an unearned tally in the sixth and two more scores in the seventh.  The Bucs had two hits in the game.  Kandace Fox singled in the second and Bethany Stavrakas scratched out a hit in the third.

In the nightcap, North Central again jumped on top in the first.  Beloit tied it up in the bottom of the inning with an unearned run.  After Stavrakas walked she advanced to second and then third on illegal pitches before scoring on an error.  But the Cardinals scored three times in the second to take control and then added six runs in the fourth, four of them unearned, and two more in the fifth, one of them unearned, to end the contest early.  Megan Salm had the Buccaneers' lone hit in the game with a lead-off single up the middle in the second inning.

Beloit returns to action on Saturday for their several-times-delayed home opener, playing a non-conference doubleheader against Cornell College at the Strong Complex Softball Field.  First pitch is at 12:00 p.m. for Friends & Family Day at the ballpark.
