Lexington, KY – The Beloit College Men’s Lacrosse team played a second straight tight game on Sunday afternoon but a fourth quarter spurt by Transylvania University was enough to send the Buccaneers to a 10-9 loss.
The Bucs got on the board first when Ryan Hazuka broke ten minutes of scoreless play at 4:48 off an assist from Liam O’Connor. Transylvania came back with two straight goals to take the lead but Jacob Pritscher scored unassisted on the man advantage at the 1:04 mark to tie it at 2-all after one.
Pritscher second straight goal at 12:28 of the second period put Beloit back on top but the Pioneers tied it again a short time later. Hazuka got his second goal at 6:45, assisted by Aidan Whinnery, to put the Buccaneers back up but TU scored twice in the final 4:29 of the half to lead 5-4 at the break.
Jack Jenkins scored on the man advantage, assisted by Pritscher, two-plus minutes into the third quarter to tie it up again before Transylvania retook the lead at 7:30. The Bucs then put together back-to-back goals by O’Connor and Hazuka, assisted by O’Connor, in the last 3:29 of the quarter to give Beloit a 7-6 lead heading to the fourth.
The Pioneers took command in the final quarter, scoring four unanswered goals, the last on the man advantage, in the first five-plus minutes of the fourth quarter to take a 10-7 lead. Pritscher scored on the man advantage at 4:52 to cut the deficit to two but Hazuka’s fourth goal with six seconds left ended the scoring.
Trevor Kenahan had 15 saves in net for the Bucs.
The Spring Trip continues for Beloit as they travel to Atlanta, playing at Oglethorpe University on Wednesday night, before finishing the trip at Piedmont College on Sat
