Appleton, WI -- The Beloit College Men's Basketball team saw their Midwest Conference Tournament drive hit a bump on Wednesday night in a 73-56 loss at Lawrence University. The loss was the third straight in MWC play.
The Vikings jumped out to a 7-2 lead early but Beloit battled back to tie it at 9-all. The back-and-forth first half was tied 20-20 with 4:31 left before LU closed the half on an 8-2 run to lead 30-22 at the break.
Lawrence kept the pressure on out of halftime, pushing their lead to 36-22 less than two minutes. But the Buccaneers responded with a 12-2 run over the next three minutes to pull back into the game. The score was 46-46 midway though the half when the Vikings made the game-deciding run, 14-3 over the next six minutes to grab control. The Bucs never got closer than nine in the final minutes.
Beloit shot just 31% for the game, 26.7% in the first half. Steve McAfee, Jr. led the Bucs with 14 points while grabbing six rebounds. James Lazarcik had 12 points and ten rebounds. Marcus Ford added five assists.
The Buccaneers look to right the ship as they head into the final week of the regular season, beginning with Knox College in Flood Arena on Saturday afternoon. Action begins at 3:00 p.m.
