Beloit, WI -- The Buccaneer Winter sport teams will be “Playing for the Cure” as part of a Midwest Conference-wide, and nation-wide, fight against cancer.
In the Winter the MWC’s “Play for the Cure” initiative run from February 1-10, which encompasses contests for the sports of Swimming & Diving and Men’s and Women’s Basketball.
The Beloit College Swimming & Diving team will be wearing pink caps on Saturday during their home finale dual meet with Knox College, which begins at 1:00 p.m. in Kresge Natatorium. The Buccaneer Basketball squads will wear pink warm-ups in their home games against Knox College on Saturday, February 9, in Flood Arena. The Men play at 3:00 p.m. that day followed by the Women.
The American Cancer Society is currently funding 11 research grants in the state of Wisconsin totaling just under $7,000,000.
The MWC will continue the initiative throughout the 2012-2013 season, with the Spring initiative running from April 12-21. All proceeds from “Play for the Cure” will be donated to various cancer charities for research into its cause, prevention and cure.
