Beloit, WI -- The Beloit College Men's Basketball team put the clamps on a Cornell College rally in the second half and ran away for a 94-68 win on Saturday in Flood Arena.
Tyler Butke scored a career-high 31 points, 20 in the opening half, while James Lazarcik had another double-double with 13 points and 15 rebounds to lead Beloit.
The Bucs broke the game open midway through the first half, going on a 10-0 run to turn a tight 22-20 lead into a 32-20 edge with 8:11 left. They got the lead up to 20 at 45-25 2:56 before the half before settling for a 49-32 halftime advantage.
Cornell kept battling and came out of the lockerroom on a 13-6 run to pull back within ten at 55-45 at the 15:08 mark. But the Buccaneers put together a 16-0 run to lead 71-45 with 8:51 remaining and it was over except for the final score.
Steve McAfee Jr. had 15 points and a career-best seven assists while Chris Bremner scored 13 and Max King 11, both career-highs. The Buccaneers shot 58.1% for the game (36-62) and recorded 22 team assists on their 36 made field goals while committing just eight turnovers.
Beloit continues its Midwest Conference drive with another big game on Tuesday when they host St. Norbert College. Tipoff is at 7:00 p.m.
