Beloit, WI -- The Beloit College Men's Basketball team used hot shooting in the second half to pull away from Illinois College 79-61 on Saturday in Flood Arena and move into a four-way tie for first in the Midwest Conference.
An 8-2 run by the Blueboys from the 11:17 mark to 6:54 gave them a 20-14 lead. But Beloit responded with a 17-7 run to close out the half and take a 31-27 into the lockerroom.
The Buccaneers came out of halftime with a 13-3 run to move up 44-30 five minutes in and IC never got closer than eight the rest of the way. The largest lead was 20 points at 79-59 with 13 seconds left on Marcus Ford's long three-pointer.
Beloit shot 58.2% for the game, 65.5% (19-29) in the second half.
James Lazarcik finished with 19 points and 12 rebounds, 16 points and ten boards in the second half, while Grant Henricksen and Ahmad Shamsid-Deen added ten points each. Chris Bremner, Tyler Butke and Steve Dowden all had nine points.
The Bucs only have one day before they're back on the court, hosting Wisconsin Lutheran College on Monday night in The Flood in their final non-conference game of the season. Tipoff is at 7:00 p.m.
