Grinnell, IA -- The Beloit College Men's Basketball team fell victim to a barrage of points in the second half on Wednesday night, resulting in a 128-86 loss at Grinnell College. The teams came into the game tied for first in the Midwest Conference.
The first half was tight through the first 18 minutes until the Pioneers closed the half with an 8-1 run to take a 57-50 advantage into the lockerroom.
Grinnell kept the run going in the second half, scoring the first seven points out of the break, to take a 64-50 lead less than two minutes in. The Buccaneers were within 12 points at 68-56 at the 15:45 mark but that's as close as they'd get in the final 15 minutes. In total, GC outscored Beloit 71-36 in the second half.
Tyler Butke led the Bucs with 19 points while James Lazarcik had 16 with eight rebounds and Grant Henricksen 12. Beloit shot 59.6% for the game, 70% in the opening half.
The Buccaneers return to Flood Arena looking to rebound on Saturday when they host Illinois College in a 6:00 p.m. tipoff.
