Ripon, WI -- The Beloit College Men's Basketball team posted their second straight Midwest Conference win at Ripon College on Tuesday night, holding on in the final minute for a 64-61 victory.
The first half was close throughout. The Bucs led 30-27 1:29 before the half before Ripon closed the half on a 5-0 run to lead 32-30 at the break.
Neither team could get more than a three-point advantage in the second half before RC opened a 51-47 lead with 8:34 remaining. But Beloit scored four straight points to even it up at the 6:44 mark. Ripon grabbed a 58-55 lead with a three-pointer at 4:32 before the Buccaneers again came back, chipping away and taking a 59-58 lead on Steve McAfee's layin with 1:58 left.
The score was tied at 59-all as the clock approached one minute remaining when Max King hit a three-pointer from the left baseline to put Beloit up for good. The Red Hawks hit two free throws with 40 seconds left to pull within one but James Lazarcik and Ahmad Shamsid-Deen hit a free throw each in the last ten seconds to seal it.
Tyler Butke had 20 points to lead the Bucs while McAfee added 15 and Shamsid-Deen 11. Lazarcik finished with 15 rebounds.
Beloit looks to keep the roll going when they play at Knox College on Saturday afternoon. Tipoff is at 3:00 p.m.
