
Beloit, WI -- The Beloit College Men's Basketball team finally grabbed control of their Midwest Conference game against Monmouth College in the final five minutes and the result was a 78-64 victory on Saturday in Flood Arena.
The game was close throughout the opening half with five ties and the largest lead belonging to Beloit at 32-26 with 5:10 left. The Bucs led 36-32 at the break.
The tight play was still evident in the second half. The Buccaneers held the lead but couldn't shake the Fighting Scots. The final 5:25 proved the difference as Beloit closed the game on a 15-6 run, fueled by eight points from Steve McAfee.
McAfee finished with a career-high 24 points while Tyler Butke added 19. James Lazarcik had a double-double with 11 points and 12 rebounds as Beloit won for the fifth straight time in the series.
The Buccaneers also got their shooting eye back, hitting 55.8% of their shots from the field, their third straight home game shooting 55% or better.
Beloit heads back on the road Tuesday night at Ripon College. Game time is at 7:00 p.m.
