Ripon, WI – The Beloit College Men’s Soccer team landed three spots on the First Team of the 2012 All-Midwest Conference Soccer Team, released today by the Conference office. The squad is selected by a vote of league coaches.
Jackson Wilkins, a senior forward from Helena, Montana (Capital), Marc Robinson, a senior forward from Kingston, Jamaica (Jamaica College), and Ryan Munger, a junior defender from Appleton, Wisconsin (West) all earned First Team honors, the second straight the Bucs have placed three on the First Team.
For Wilkins it’s his fourth straight First Team selection, just the second Buccaneer to accomplish that (Marc Cohen, 1992-95). He was second on the Bucs in scoring with eight goals and seven assists for 23 points. He tied for the Conference lead in assists and tied for second in game-winning goals. He was fifth in both goals and points. For his career he finished as Beloit’s all-time leader in points, tied for first in goals and third in assists.
Robinson, who earned his second straight All-MWC First Team honor, led the team in scoring with 14 goals and seven assists for 35 points. The goals and points are the third-most in a season in Buccaneer history. He was second in the Conference in both goals and points and tied for second in game-winners. For his career he had the fourth-most goals and tied for fifth in points.
Munger, earning his first All-MWC honor, had a goal with four assists this season. The goal was the game-winner against Ripon College. A leader of the defense, he was part of a group that allowed just 0.82 goals per game, best in the conference, while allowing just .071 shots on goal to hit the back of the net.
The Buccaneers were 11-5-1 on the season, their most wins since 2006, and advanced to the MWC Tournament for the seventh time in the last ten seasons. It also marked the 11th time in the last 20 seasons they’ve had double-figure wins in a season.
