Beloit, WI -- The Beloit College Women's Tennis team almost beat the storm that passed through the area early Monday evening but still took a 4-3 win over Wisconsin Lutheran College at the Strong Complex Tennis Courts.
The Buccaneers took two of the three Doubles points, with the #1 team of Trina Capelli and Maria Mears winning 8-2 at #1 and Emma Koeppel and Dominique Bodoh winning 8-3 at #3.
The Warriors won at #1 and #2 Singles but the Bucs countered with wins by Emma Beck at #4 and Koeppel at #5, both in straight sets. Libby Storrick led 8-2 in the super-tiebreaker at #3, two points from securing the win, while Paola Schnabel trailed 7-5, 3-3 at #6 when the match was called by lightning.
Beloit has a little time off after a busy start to the season, getting back on the courts on Saturday at Carroll University at 10:00 a.m. in the Midwest Conference North Division opener. They then play at Lake Forest College on Sunday beginning at 9:00 a.m. They play UW-Whitewater at LFC at noon.
