Floyd Leads Bucs at NIU Open

Dekalb, IL -- The Beloit College Track & Field team competed in the Northern Illinois University Open on Saturday, with Matt Floyd leading the way.

Floyd won the Pole Vault with an effort of 14', coming with six inches of the Buccaneer Outdoor record.

Eric Koenig also record a win, taking the 3000m Steeplechase.

Other top performances in the non-scoring meet included Travis Towns, fourth in the Javelin; Myles Schneider, sixth in the Hammer; Amani Edwards, sixth in the Shot Put; Aaron Joiner, sixth in the 800m; Kiera Hayes, sixth in the 400m Hurdles; and Matt Pitz, sixth in the 5000m.

The Men's 4x100m Relay of Ken Andejeski, Floyd, Daniel Gonzales and Stephen Heinz was fourth, as was the Men's 4x400m Relay of Joiner, Mat Kahl, Andejeski and Heinz.

The Women's 4x100m Relay of Hayes, Rasheda Hughes, Catherine Jensen and Edwards was fifth.

The Buccaneers compete at the Wisconsin Private Schools Meet at Wisconsin Lutheran College in Milwaukee next Saturday.  Action begins at 10:00 a.m.
