Ripon, WI -- The Beloit College Women's Soccer team has been picked seventh by league coaches in the 2009 Midwest Conference Women's Soccer Preseason Poll. The conference office released the poll on Thursday.
The Buccaneers are picked to finish ahead of Ripon, Illinois College and Knox, who were voted eighth thru tenth, respectively.
Defending MWC Tournament Champion Carroll University received six first-place votes to take the top spot in the poll followed by 2008 regular-season champion St. Norbert College, who had two first-place votes. Grinnell College received the final two first-place votes and were third.
Beloit opens its 2009 season on Tuesday, September 1, when they travel to UW-La Crosse. Their home opener is slated for Saturday, September 12, against Lawrence University at 2:00 p.m. at the Strong Complex Fields.
