Monmouth, IL -- The Beloit College Women's Basketball team suffered through turnovers and poor shooting on the way to a 53-42 loss at Monmouth College on Friday night.
The teams battled through a tight first half. Beloit scored the first four points of the game and led 14-9 11 minutes in but Monmouth came back and the teams reached the break knotted at 21-all.
The Fighting Scots took control in the second half, starting with an 11-4 run in the first seven minutes that gave the lead for good. The Buccaneers closed to within 37-33 at the midway point of the half but could get no closer.
The Bucs had 30 turnovers for the game and shot just 36.4% (16-44).
Sarah Stariha was the only Buccaneer in double figures with 16 points while also handing out six assists.
Beloit will look to get back on the right track on Saturday when they play at Lake Forest College. Tipoff is at 3:00 p.m.
