De Pere, WI -- The Beloit College Women's Basketball team fell victim to a late basket that gave St. Norbert College a 68-65 win in De Pere on Monday night.
The game was a make-up from a snowed-out game back on December 9.
St. Norbert led through the first eight minutes of the opening half, the largest lead being at 21-15 at the 11:43 mark. But Beloit went on a 9-2 run over the next five minutes to take a 24-23 lead.
SNC pushed the lead back up to four points with 39 seconds left in the half before a Kandace Fox three-pointer pulled Beloit to within one at the break, 34-33.
The second half stayed close through the first ten minutes before the Green Knights spurted out to a 54-48 lead. But the Buccaneers came back again, putting together an 8-2 run to tie it at 56-all.
The teams went back and forth into the final minute from that point, with the Bucs taking a 65-64 lead on Amanda Moore's laup with 27 seconds remaining. But SNC scored what proved to be the game-winner with six seconds left and added a steal and layin at the buzzer for the final score.
Moore finished with 21 points, including five three-pointers, while Diana Sopkowicz had 17 points and 12 rebounds. Sarah Stariha added ten points.
Beloit plays their final non-conference game of the season on Wednesday night at Lakeland College in Sheboygan before returning to Flood Arena to host Carroll University on Saturday afternoon. Tipoff on Wednesday is at 7:00 p.m.
