Las Vegas, NV -- The Beloit College Women's Basketball team traveled a long way to get their second straight win but did just that with a 54-48 victory over Southwestern University of Texas at Las Vegas Hoopla on Friday night.
The Buccaneers used an 11-2 run in the opening half to take a 15-6 lead at the 13:40 mark. But the Pirates chipped away and took the lead at the break 31-28.
SU held the lead for most of the second half, though Beloit tied it up several times, until Diana Dopkowics made a jumper at the 6:29 mark to put the Bucs up for good. The Pirates got as close as three with 1:14 remaining but Amanda Moore hit three free throws in the final 15 seconds to secure the victory.
Kandace Fox led thye Buccaneers with 15 points while Moore had 12. Mary Parker had six points, ten rebounds and five assists.
Beloit is back in action in Las Vegas on Saturday night when they play nationally-ranked Trinity University of Texas. Tipoff is scheduled for 6:00 p.m. CST.
