Galesburg, IL -- The Beloit College Women's Basketball team notched their first win of the 2009-10 season on Saturday afternoon with a 73-49 runaway at Knox College in Galesburg, Illinois.
The Bucs broke away from a narrow 6-4 lead at the 16:08 mark of the opening half with a 10-0, four-minute run to move their lead into double figures. They led 30-18 at the break.
Beloit kept up the pressure in the second half and gradually built the advantage, getting to a 20-point lead on a Kandace Fox three-pointer with 16:34 remaining and then hitting the 30-point advantage at 6:44 on a jumper by Sarah Stariha. They enjoyed their largest lead at 31 points, the last time with 3:37 remaining.
Amanda Moore led four Bucs in double figures with 17 points, including 5-9 three-pointers. Fox added 15 and Stariha 13 while Mary Parker had 11 points, 11 rebounds, seven assists and four steals.
The Buccaneers continue in Midwest Conference play on wednesday night when they travel to St. Norbert College in De Pere, Wisconsin, for a 5:30 p.m. game.
