Waukesha, WI -- Playing on the strength of their good showing at the Midwest Conference Classic last weekend, the Beloit College Softball team returned to MWC North play with a split at Carroll University on Wednesday afternoon, winning game one 2-1 before falling 4-0 in game two.
In the win in the opener, the Bucs got two runs in the second inning and made them stand up.
Nicole Oddo was involved in both runs, doubling in the first run of the game before scoring what proved to be the winning run on an error later in the inning.
Carroll cut the lead in half in the fourth with an unearned run but could get no closer.
Katy Sandt got the win, scattering six hits while striking out three and walking two.
In the nightcap Beloit managed just one hit - a fifth inning single by Allegera Stanton - but couldn't get a run across.
CU scored all the runs they'd need with a three-run second and tacked on a final run in the sixth.
The Buccaneers stay on the road on Saturday when they play another MWC North doubleheader, this time at Lawrence University. Game time is at 1:00 p.m.
