Naperville, IL -- The Beloit College Softball team went up against one of the nation's top teams in North Central College on Thursday afternoon, dropping a pair of games 13-1 and 11-0.
The Cardinals are ranked 24th in the most recent National Fastpitch Coaches Association Top 25 poll.
In game one NCC scored two in the first and six in the second to jump out to a big advantage. Beloit got their run in the top of the third when Laura Byrne doubled in Lisa McClure, who had walked.
The Cardinals added five more in the bottom of the third.
In the second game North Central scored one run in the opening inning and two in the second before putting up seven in the third inning. They added one more in the fourth.
The Bucs had two hits for the game - McKenzie Falker's bunt single in the fourth and Kourtney Kingslien's infield single in the fifth - before the game ended because of the eight-run rule.
Beloit now focuses its attention on this weekend's Midwest Conference Classic, which will be played at Dawson Park in Janesville. The Buccaneers have three games on Saturday, beginning with Monmouth College at 11:00 a.m. They have two more games on Sunday starting at 10:00 a.m.
