Beloit, WI -- The Beloit College Men's Soccer team got their money's worth in their 2009 season opener on Tuesday at the Strong Complex Soccer Field, playing to a 1-1 overtime tie with Wisconsin Lutheran College.
The Warriors got the game's first score on a penalty kick with just over three minutes remaining in the opening half.
But Jackson Wilkins, playing his first collegiate game, got the equalizer seven minutes into the second half on a breakaway.
That would be it for the scoring, as the two teams played the next 58 minutes without hitting the back of the net. The Buccaneers out-shot WLC 24-10, including 9-4 on goal. Nathan Lipps stopped three shots on net for the Bucs.
Beloit is back in action on Friday when they play stateline neighbor Rockford College at 4:30 p.m. in Rockford. They then turn around and host Cornell College at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday at the Strong Complex Field.
