Beloit, WI -- Nine years is a long time to go without beating a team you play twice a season. The Beloit College Men's Basketball team made sure that streak didn't extend any longer with a season-ending 75-61 win over Lawrence University in Flood Arena on Wednesday night.

The win gives the Buccaneers a final record of 8-15 overall, 6-10 in the Midwest Conference. The eight wins overall are the most since they had 11 during the 2005-06 season while the six conference victories are their most since they won seven in that same 2005-06 season.

Beloit took steps quickly to snap Lawrence's 16-game series winning streak, jumping out to a 14-3 lead just over five minutes into the opening half and increasing it to 14 at 19-5 two minutes later. Their biggest lead of the half was 16 at 27-11 with 4:50 remaining. They led 33-21 at the break.

The Buccaneers pushed their advantage as high as 17 five minutes into the second half before LU started slowly chipping away.

The Vikings, down 52-37 with under nine minutes left, went on a five-minute 15-6 run to close to within six at 58-52 with 3:34 remaining. But that's as close as they'd get as Beloit pushed their lead back up to double figures with just over a minute left before coasting in for the win.

Travis Towns had 20 points to lead Beloit, also grabbing seven rebounds, while both David Bremner and Derek Carrier had 16, Bremner also with seven boards. Patrick Kenny chipped in 11.
