Beloit, WI -- The Beloit College Men's Basketball team came out firing but visiting Rockford College came from behind to post an 88-78 win at Flood Arena on Saturday afternoon.
The Bucs shot the lights out early on, building a 10-point 19-9 lead six-plus minutes in. But RC put together a 12-2 run over the next six minutes to tie the score at 21-all. The teams were tied at 25-25 with 5:22 left in the first half before the Regents closed the half on a 16-6 run to lead 41-31 at the break.
Beloit had a 17-6 run in the first seven minutes of the second half to pull within one at 49-48 at the 12:49 mark but Rockford answered with a 21-7 run over the next four-plus minutes to go up 70-55 with 8:13 remaining. Beloit never got closer than ten the rest of the way.
Travis Towns scored 29 points to lead the Bucs while David Bremner had 15 and Michael Horton 13.
The Buccaneers get back into Midwest Conference play on Monday when they travel to St. Norbert College for a 7:00 p.m. tip. The game is a make-up of the snow-out back on December 9.
