Ripon, WI -- Brian Maughn, a sophomore quarterback from Sunrise, Florida (Western) and Andrew Christensen, a junior running back/wide receiver from Janesville, Wisconsin (Milton) have both been named Midwest Conference Football Player of the Week for Offense and Special Teams, respectively.
The conference office announced the honors on Monday afternoon.
Maughn tied a Beloit record with 373 yards passing in leading the Bucs over Knox College 42-14 in Galesburg on Saturday. He was 20-28 with an interception and two TDs. His long pass was a 58-yard scoring toss to Andrew Christensen 19 seconds into the second half to give Beloit a 21-7 lead. Maughn has thrown for 200-plus yards in three of Beloit's four games this season and his five touchdown passes are one short of the six total the Bucs had in the entire 2008 season.
Christensen had a big day in the same game, running up 336 total yards and scoring a school-record tying four touchdowns. He had 107 yards on five punt returns, including a 69-yard punt return for the Bucs' first touchdown. He also had 53 yards in kickoff returns, including a long of 29. He rushed three times for 15 yards and two TDs and caught eight passes for 161 yards and a 58-yard touchdown.
