Women Finish 2nd at WI Private Colleges Meet

Ripon, WI -- The Beloit College Women's Cross Country team put together a runnerup finish at the Wisconsin Private Colleges Meet in Ripon on Saturday afternoon. The Buccaneer Men were sixth.

Viterbo University won the Women's race with 66 points, ahead of Beloit's 85, while host Ripon College won the Men's meet with 37 points.

Julie Stutzbach led the Women with a ninth-place finish followed by Shellie Quade in 11th and Lauren Hall in 18th. Anne Bayerle was 22nd and Geneva Schulz-Welo 25th to put the Bucs' scoring runners all in the top 25.

Eric Koenig paced the Men in 13th. Josh Davendonis was 24th and Jared Wynne 31st. Nestor Zavala finished 33rd and Travis Holtby 34th for the Buccaneers' scoring.

The Meet was the final tune-up before the Midwest Conference Championships, which will be hosted by Beloit on Saturday, October 31, at Rock Cut State Park in Loves Park, Illinois. The Women's race begins the action that day at 11:00 a.m.
