Ripon, WI -- Andrew Heer, a senior designated hitter for the Beloit College Baseball team from Wheeling, Illinois, has been named the Midwest Conference Player of the Week for his play from March 29 thru April 4.
In four games last week for the Bucs (3-1) Heer hit .545 (6-11), scored three runs, drove in 10 runs, had one double, three HRs and a slugging percentage of 1.455. He had a career day against Washington University MO in Bloomington, Illinois, on Friday, April 2, going 5-9 with seven RBIs, hitting a two-run home run in game one and a three-run shot in game two. He also had a pinch-hit three-run home run in a win against Knox College earlier in the week.
For the season he is hitting .474 (9-19) with three doubles, three home runs and 15 RBIs. His slugging percentage is 1.105.
The Buccaneers return to action this Thursday when they open defense of their 2009 Midwest Conference Championship by hosting Ripon College in a doubleheader at The Ballpark at Strong Stadium. First pitch is at 1:00 p.m.
