Winter Haven, FL -- The Beloit College Baseball team saw Augustana College score in the bottom of the tenth on a wind-blown double in a 6-5 loss at Chain of Lakes Park on Tuesday afternoon.
The Buccaneers came from behind and finally grabbed the lead in the tight Central Region battle. The Vikings struck first in the second with two runs on an RBI single by T.J. O'Donnell and a sacrifice fly by Mike Lamb.
Beloit cut the lead in half when Beloit scored an unearned run in the third before Augustana pushed their lead to 4-1 in the fourth on a two-run home run by Lamb.
The Bucs pulled back to even at 4-all in the sixth as Hunter Nelson coaxed a bases-loaded walk out of AC pitcher Matt Erickson. Jordan Jaenicke and Drew Oswald then got back-to-back RBI groundouts to tie it up.
Beloit grabbed the lead in the eighth when Allen Loth squeezed in Nelson with an unearned run but, Augie forced extra innings when Kevin Serva scored on a passed ball in the bottom of the eighth.
The Vikings won it in the tenth when Mike Barker led off with a single, Joe Maran sacrificed him to second and Serna hit a double to right that just eluded the Buccaneer right fielder.
Joe Ufheil got the win for Augustana while Ryan Schmitz took the loss. Mike Kovach went 3-4 for the Bucs after pitching the first 7.1 innings. Wilson had three hits and Serna two for Augustana.
The Buccaneers have Wednesday off before getting back on the field on Thursday against St. John Fisher College at Dodgertown in Vero Beach.
