Kovach Earns D3 Baseball Pre-Season Honor

Beloit, WI -- Mike Kovach, a junior right-handed pitcher/utility player for the Beloit College Baseball team, has been named Honorable Mention as a utility player on the Pre-Season All-American team.

Kovach, a native of Plainfield, Illinois/Joliet Catholic, hit .451 with a home run and 30 runs-batted-in last season as the Buccaneers captured the Midwest Conference Championship and made their first appearance in the NCAA Division Tournament.

He also went 6-1 on the mound in eight appearances.

Kovach set or tied nine single-season records, including at bats (164), runs scored (46), hits (74), batting average, singles (58), doubles (14), total bases (93), stolen bases (34) and games played (37).

The Bucs open their 2010 season on Sunday, February 28, when they take on Widener University at the Central Florida Invitational in Winter Haven, Florida.
