Beloit/Watertown, WI -- The Beloit College Men's Soccer team was disappointed again on Wednesday night at the Strong Complex Soccer Field, going to overtime with visiting Marian University before dropping a 2-1 decision late in the first extra period.
After a scoreless opening half and nearly 15 minutes of the second half, Beloit jumped on top when Danny Hodorowski scored on a scramble in front of the Sabres' net at 59:48. Sean Little got the assist. But MU tied it up at 1-all less than two minutes later, converting off a corner kick.
Both teams had chances in the remaining 29 minutes of regulation but neither cashed in. With 39 seconds left in the first ten-minute overtime, Marian found the back of the net to score the win.
BJ Kiser had nine saves in goal for the Bucs. The teams were even with 20 shots apiece though Marian held the advantage on corners 11-2.
On Thursday the Buccaneer dropped a 3-0 match to Maranatha Baptist College on the road. MBBC opened the scoring at 13:12 and added a second goal at 39:12 to lead 2-0 at the break. They closed out the scoring at the 52:13 mark.
Kiser made eight saves in net for the Bucs, who were out-shot 24-2.
The Buccaneers stay on the road for a game at UW-Whitewater on Sunday afternoon. Kickoff is at 3:00 p.m.
