Beloit College Athletics gets its 2013-14 season rolling this week with five of the seven Fall sports in action.
Buccaneer Women’s Tennis is the first in action when they host UW-La Crosse at 4:00 p.m. on Friday at the Strong Complex Tennis Courts. Under second-year head coach Kara Amundson, they travel to UW-Stevens Point for a morning match on Saturday before hosting Wisconsin Lutheran College at 4:00 p.m. on Labor Day.
The Volleyball squad, under seventh-season head coach Dawn Redd, starts up a half-hour after Women’s Tennis when they host Rockford University in the first match of the Buc Blast Volleyball Tournament in Flood Arena at 4:30 p.m. on Friday. They also play Finlandia University at 8:30 p.m. Friday before finishing up the six-team tourney with Milwaukee School of Engineering at 10:00 a.m. and Marian University at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday.
Buccaneer Women’s Soccer, under first-year head coach Nick Chapman, opens their season at Wisconsin Lutheran College in Milwaukee on Friday at 5:30 p.m. They play their home opener on Sunday afternoon at 1:00 p.m., taking on Eureka College at 1:00 p.m. at the Strong Complex Soccer Field.
The Men’s and Women’s Cross Country teams, under head coach Dave Eckburg, who begins his 18th season with the Men and 14th with the Women, will run against Rockford University in an early-bird dual at Rock Cut State Park at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday.
Next Tuesday, September 3, the Men’s Soccer squad, under head coach Tim Schmiechen, who begins his 24th season, opens their season against Wisconsin Lutheran College at 6:00 p.m. at the Strong Complex Soccer Field in the second game of a Women’s/Men’s doubleheader.
The last Fall team to begin play, Buccaneer Football, kicks off the 2013 season on Saturday, September 7, under eighth-season head coach Chris Brann against the University of Chicago at Strong Stadium at 6:00 p.m.
