Beloit, WI -- The Beloit College Men's Soccer team got a much-needed but hard-fought win on Saturday afternoon at the Strong Complex Soccer Field, holding on for a 3-2 non-conference victory over Maranatha Baptist Bible College.
The Bucs got on the board first when Tom Slusher scored off a Jackson Wilkins assist at the 11:24 mark. But MBBC tied it up at 1-all at the break with a score at 23:04.
Beloit got control of the match at 67:15 when Ryan Munger tallied off another Wilkins' assist. Wilkins then gave the Buccaneers some insurance six minutes later off Silas Connelly's assist to make it 3-2 with under 17 minutes remaining.
The Crusaders refused to let up, pulling back to within one goal at 82:21. But the Bucs held strong the remaining seven-plus minutes for the win.
John Jorgenson made five saves in net for the win.
The Buccaneers have a little time now before getting back into Midwest Conference play on Thursday when they Illinois College at the Strong Complex Field. Kickoff is at 4:30 p.m.
