Milwaukee, WI -- The Beloit College Men's Soccer team rode a hat trick by Silas Connelly to a 3-1 win over Wisconsin Lutheran College in the season opener on Wednesday night in Milwaukee.
Connelly got things going just over two minutes into the match with an unassisted goal. He made it 2-0 22 minutes later to put the Buccaneers up 2-0 at the break.
Wisconsin Lutheran cut the lead in half at the 69:27 mark of the second half but Connelly completed his hat trick seven minutes later to put Beloit back up by a more comfortable two goals.
Michael Kreiser made his first career start in net for the Bucs and recorded three saves for the win.
The Buccaneers are now off until next Wednesday when they open their home season against Rockford College at the Strong Complex Soccer Field. Kickoff is at 4:30 p.m.
