Ripon, WI – The Beloit College Men’s Soccer team had six players earn recognition on the 2009 All-Midwest Conference Men’s Soccer Team. The squad was released by the Conference office on Wednesday afternoon.
Brothers Bo and Jackson Wilkins led the way with First Team honors while Kellen Sullivan, John H. Erikson, Nathan Lipps and Brian Maunze earned Second Team laurels.
Bo Wilkins, a senior midfielder from Helena, Montana (Capital) led the Conference in assists with nine. He finished with four goals, the nine assists and 17 points, third on the team. He ended his career with 18 assists, the fourth-most in Beloit history. He was also a First Team pick in 2008 after earning Second Team honors in 2007.
Jackson Wilkins, a first-year forward from Helena, Montana (Capital) led the team in goals (14) and points (31) while ranking second in both of those categories in the Conference.
Maunze, a senior forward from Harare, Zimbabwe, finished with five goals, seven assists and 17 points. The assist total was second on the team and tied for second in the Conference while his points total was third highest for the team.
Lipps, a senior goalkeeper from Kasson, Minnesota (Mantorville) recorded a 6-2-4 record in goal with four shutouts and a 1.17 goals-against-average. He was second in the league in goals-against-average and tied for fourth in shutouts. His goals-against-average ties for the fifth best in a single season in Buccaneer history while his shutouts were the fourth most.
Erikson, a senior defender from Beloit (Memorial), and Sullivan, a sophomore defender from Helena, Montana (Capital), were the anchors of a defense that allowed just 25 goals on the season, including six shutouts.
The Buccaneers finished the 2009 season 10-3-6, including 5-2-2 in MWC play, and advanced to the MWC Tournament Championship match before seeing their season end in a shootout.
