Spring Trip to Atlanta, 1st Men’s Lacrosse Game at Stadium, Scrimmage vs. NCAA Qualifier Headline Buccaneer Men’s Lacrosse Inaugural Season

January 15, 2013 at 12:24 pm

The Beloit College Men’s Lacrosse Team will make history on Saturday, March 16, when the Buccaneers take on DePauw in the first NCAA Men’s Lacrosse game in the seventy-eight-year history of Strong Stadium. Faceoff between Beloit and the North Coast Athletic Conference visitors is slated for 1:00 p.m.

By the time their home opener rolls around, however, the Bucs will be in the middle of their 2013 season. They will take the field for the first time on February 9 in Gambier, Ohio, for scrimmages against Kenyon College and St. Vincent College (PA). Last spring Kenyon qualified for the NCAA Tournament for the third time in seven seasons.

Beloit’s season-opening game will take place on Sunday, February 24, at Fontbonne University in St. Louis.

The Bucs’ 2013 schedule is highlighted by their weeklong Spring trip to Atlanta. The trip begins on Sunday, March 3, when Beloit takes on Transylvania University in Lexington, Kentucky.  After the game, the Bucs will head to Atlanta, where they will train for the week and play Oglethorpe University and Piedmont College.

After their home opener against DePauw on March 16, the Bucs will travel to Concordia-Wisconsin for a midweek in-state matchup. Three games against Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Conference schools Olivet, Albion, and Calvin will follow. The Saturday, March 23, home game against Olivet will precede Beloit’s Admitted Student Open House for prospective students on Sunday and Monday.

After traveling to Calvin on March 30, the Bucs will not need to venture far from Beloit for the remainder of the season. The Bucs will host Defiance on April 6, travel to Elmhurst on April 13, and close out their 2013 season under the lights of Strong Stadium on Wednesday, April 17 against Milwaukee School of Engineering.
