Lazarcik NCAA Award

Beloit, WI -- James Lazarcik added one more piece to his honors for the 2012-13 season when he received his award from the NCAA for leading NCAA Division III in field goal percentage for the season.

The award was presented during halftime of the Homecoming Football Game against Lawrence on September 21.

Lazarcik, who also received the Janssen Award at halftime of the game which recognizes the outstanding accomplishments of junior student-athletes for the athletic year, as voted on by the head coaches in the Buccaneer Athletic Department, earned First Team All-MWC and Third Team All-Midwest Region honors as well as being a Second Team Academic All-American last season.  He led the team in 13 different categories in 2012-13, including scoring, rebounding, field goal and free throw percentage and blocked shots.  In the Midwest Conference he was the league leader in field goal shooting, rebounding and double-doubles and was fourth in scoring.  Heading into his senior season he has 843 career points and 541 career rebounds while shooting nearly 64% from the field.  To lead NCAA Division III he made 159 of 235 shots from the field for a shooting percentage of 67.7%, topping the runner-up in that category by a full percentage and a half.

The Buccaneers open their 2013-14 season on November 19 at Dominican University in River Forest, Illinois.  The first home game is scheduled for November 26 against Ripon College, which is also the Midwest Conference opener.
