Beloit, WI -- The Beloit College Men's Basketball team had a big win in their sights on Saturday afternoon until visiting Grinnell College got hot from three-point range on the way to a 102-98 win in front of 1,800 in Flood Arena.

The Buccaneers took some control of the game in the first ten minutes, going on a 9-0 run to move out front 22-13 midway through the half.  Grinnell pulled back to within three at 29-26 with a 13-7 run three minutes later but Beloit responded with a 10-3 run to go back on top by ten.  They stretched their lead as high as 12 in the last minute before settling for a 47-38 lead at the break.

The Bucs got their biggest lead with 9:45 left in the second half at 75-60 before a five-minute 24-9 run by the Pioneers, fueled by six three-pointers, tied it up at 84-84 with 4:12 remaining.  Beloit got the lead back up to five with just over two minutes left but another three-pointer capped a GC run and game them a 98-95 advantage with 27 seconds left.  The Buccaneers got within two with five seconds remaining but that was as close as they'd get.

Steve McAfee, Jr. had a career-high 30 points, 21 in the first half, to lead Beloit.  James Lazarcik had 25 points and 15 rebounds, his tenth double-double of the season.  Grant Henricksen added 11 points while Tyler Butke had ten.  Marcus Ford dished out nine assists while Chris Bremner had six.

The Buccaneers look to get back in the win column on Wednesday night at Lawrence University in Appleton.  Tipoff is at 7:00 p.m.
