Beloit, WI -- The Beloit College Men's Basketball team had their 2012-13 home-opener spoiled by Lakeland College in a 92-80 loss in Flood Arena.
Despite shooting 56.9% from the field for the game Beloit was taken down by a 14-4 deficit in made three-pointers.
The first half was close throughout until the Muskies put together an 8-4 run in the final three minutes to grab a 41-37 lead at the break. The second half started out as tight as the first half had been until LC went off on a 14-6 run over four minutes to take a 65-57 lead with 11:09 left. The Bucs got back to with six but that was as close as they'd get the remainder of the game. Lakeland's biggest lead was 15 with 4:15 left. Beloit sliced it down to eight with under a minute left but could get no closer.
James Lazarcik led four Bucs in double figures with 18 points and also grabbed eight rebounds. Steve McAfee added 14, Grant Henricksen 13 and Ahmad Shamsid-Deen 12 with seven rebounds and seven assists.
After a break for Thanksgiving Beloit is back in Flood Arena on Saturday afternoon when they host Dominican University in a 3:00 p.m. tip, their final tune-up before Midwest Conference play begins next week.
