Beloit, WI -- Tyler Butke's buzzer-beater as the clock hit :00 gave the Beloit College Men's Basketball team an exciting 67-65 win over Illinois College in Flood Arena on Friday night.
The Bucs jumped out to a 10-2 lead over the first four minutes of the game but Illinois College got things going with a 22-5 run over the next ten minutes to go up 24-15 with 6:02 left. Beloit pulled back to within two at 29-27 with 34 seconds left before IC scored to lead 31-27 at the break.
The Blueboys kept a hold on their lead through most of the second half and led by eight at 54-46 with just under 11 minutes remaining. But a layin by David Bremner capped a 14-4 run over the following four minutes to give the Buccaneers a 60-58 lead with 6:14 left.
The Bucs led 65-60 with 2:41 left but IC went on a 5-0 run, tying it up at 65-all with 13 seconds remaining. After a Beloit timeout Butke hit his game-winner as the clock wound down off an assist from Bremner, sending his teammates on the court to celebrate the moment.
Bremner led Beloit with 13 points while Michael Horton finished with 11 points and ten rebounds. Butke added ten and James Lazarcik and Travis Towns nine each.
The Buccaneers look to keep their momentum on Saturday afternoon when they host Monmouth College for Hall of Honor Day. Tipoff is at 4:00 p.m.
