Beloit, WI -- The Beloit College Men's Basketball team ran out of time on Tuesday night as Carroll University took a closely-contested 67-62 Midwest Conference win in Flood Arena.
In an opening half that featured nine ties, the Bucs broke away on an 11-4 run to take a 17-10 advantage at the 13:00 mark. But Carroll answered with an 8-0 run to take an 18-17 lead with eight minutes left. It stayed close the rest of the half, with Beloit heading to the locker room with a 28-27 lead.
The second half was equally as tight, with neither team getting more than a five-point lead. CU finally settled it late with a 6-2 run to close the game, including hitting three free throws in the final 30 seconds, for the win. The Buccaneers had pulled to within two at 64-62 with 34 seconds remaining on a dunk by David Bremner but couldn't get a basket down the stretch.
Bremner finished with 18 points, seven rebounds and four assists. Michael Horton had 15 and James Lazarcik 11 before fouling out.
The Bucs now look to the weekend when they host Illinois College on Friday night at 7:00 p.m. for the MWC's Playin' for a Cure Night and then welcome in Monmouth College on Saturday for Hall of Honor Day at 4:00 p.m..
